How Does Sneaker Culture Blend With Your Personal Style?

Sneaker culture has always been a love affair for me. When I was younger I got a thrill out of having the latest kicks or having an exclusive sneaker no one in my school had… what can I say the more things change, the more they stay the same. I still get a thrill from the exclusivity of a sneaker; however now it is more about comfort, (always about) style, and colorways.

Comfort: As you get older you soon start to realize that your body doesn’t operate the way it once did. Therefore, sneakers built for comfort are very important when it comes to my style. The introduction of the various boost (Adidas) and vapor (Nike) collections have been life savers on my precious feet. Plus they are (mostly) hella stylish!

Style: Soooo… style and comfort are definitely top 2, no debating. If I am comfy, you better believe I’m going to make it look sexy. Word to my brotha Kendrick. In this day and age, there are tons of sneaker options and they each fit a different style purpose. Sneaker culture blends well with my personal style because I am able to rock a suit but also go take out the garbage; both done very stylishly might I add.

Colorways: When I was younger I never really cared about the colors of sneakers, just as long as it was new and sought after I had to have it. For my personal style now, i am very particular about picking a shoe based on color. I “try” not to purchase multiple sneakers of the same color(s); I personally believe it can become redundant and I’ll most likely give one shoe more love than the other and I’ll end up with a bunch of deadstock shoes. Also, I always try to purchase sneakers with pops of color. For my personal style, I love to make my sneaker the focal point of an outfit; thus colorways are key!
